Elf in MysElf

Telré 8/23/95

Some people think I'm human
But they don't know what's at stake
Such a blatant err in judgement
Is a very bad mistake
It's a subtle form of torture
To mistake me as my host
There's more Elf in my sElf than most.

I like to cruise the Forest
As I'm hunting for a mate
And oft I have to settle
with a human for a date
I'm a glutton for affection
or a romantic evening toast
There's more Elf in my sElf than most.

I find it quite a thrill
that my looks are so decieving
But become quite distressed
at that look of dis-believing
Although it's hard to prove
It's a fact, not lie, nor boast
There's more Elf in my sElf than most.

I know I'm not the only one,
I've met a few Vampires
Who often pointed out to me
Some gothic-looking sires.
Fairies, Fauns & Sirens,
Giants, Dwarves & Ghosts
There's more Elf in my sElf than most.

You might think it's just religious
But you would be mistaken
I am different from a Druid
I'm a little more than Pagan
I won't be winding straw
Around a sacrificial roast
There's more Elf in my sElf than most.

I tend to give the hints
In a subtle sideways glance
you can see it when I'm playing,
you can see it when I dance
And in the look of Ocean worship
As I'm sitting on the coast
There's more Elf in my sElf than most.
