Star 1991
To salvage what is left of me
Beyond what mortal eyes can see
Behind the mask & over the walls
"Come gather, come gather," my spirit calls.
Ten years ago I built the wall
Its maker, anguished, now I fall
For all I've lost and all I've saved
And all the useless fears I've braved.
In every moment in every year
The Maker's voice still calls me near
I hear you Mother, you hear my song
Grant the peace for which I long
To salvage what is left of me
My Mother calls me now to see
The mortal lives to which I'm tied
Both all who live & all who've died.
"To salvage what is left of me"
The words I hear so hauntingly
Now I know that, above all
To salvage the Mother is my call.
